Usually these day-to-day tasks pass without issue, but when things go wrong, the potential for costs to escalate is astounding.
Endsleigh and Legal Insurance Management have worked together to provide a bespoke legal expenses policy which has been tailor made to meet the evolving needs of Students’ Unions. The policy gives a wide range of cover without compromising affordability.
Our legal expenses policy is available with a £50,000 or £100,000 limit of indemnity and will respond to the following insured events:
| Employment disputes |
Defence of disputes with an employees, ex-employees, or prospective employees arising from a defined set of circumstances. |
| Employment awards |
Payment of any award made because of an Employment Dispute within the limit of indemnity. |
| Employee restrictive covenant |
Assistance with the legal costs involved in the enforcement of a restrictive covenant contained in an employee or ex-employee’s contract of employment. |
| Legal defence of an insured person |
Defence costs incurred because of a criminal or civil action against an individual employee arising from a defined set of circumstances. |
| Data protection act |
Defence costs incurred because of a civil action under Section 13 of the Data Protection Act 1988. |
| Tax, VAT, PAYE and NIC investigations |
Professional fees incurred in respect of (a) a comprehensive enquiry, (b) an in depth investigation of your tax affairs, (c) VAT disputes, (d) PAYE disputes and (e) NIC disputes. |
| Property protection |
Defence involved in civil actions relating to material property owned by you, or civil actions between you and your landlord under the terms of a lease or tenancy agreement applying to your business premises. |
| Licence protection |
The costs involved in preparing an appeal or representation to a mandatory authority following an act or omission, which leads to the suspending, revoking or alteration of the conditions of a licence appropriate to your business or trade. |
| Bodily injury |
The defence against any civil claim because of death or bodily injury of an employee because of negligence. |
| Jury service and attendance expenses |
The loss of salary or wages as a result of attendance at court, tribunals and Jury Service. |
| Debt recovery |
Professional fees incurred because of recovery of money and interest due to you through the provision of goods and services. |
Our policy can also provide the following for an additional premium:
- Contract disputes.
Legal costs incurred during a dispute in respect of a contract for the sale, hire, supply or purchase of goods or services.
